2009 NYCETC Events 

In addition to the Opportunity Awards Reception, NYCETC holds a number of events that unite the workforce development community and provide essential information on breaking news and trends. The Awards program takes place over six months, from the announcement of the competition in October, an open house for potential applicants in November, to judging of submissions after the mid-December deadline, through promotion of the winners early in the year and on to the Opportunity Awards Reception in the Spring. February 2 Jobs Outlook and Trends Forum ‘09

Where are the Jobs? How Will NYC’s Labor Market Survive the Economic Crisis?
Co-sponsored by the New York City Workforce Investment Board, NYC Labor Market Information Service, and the Department of Small Business Services, and the New York City Workforce Innovation Fund
Held at CUNY Graduate Center, Manhattan

May 14 Opportunity Awards Reception

Held at Colors Restaurant, 417 Lafayette Street in Manhattan

May 15 – Tours and Workshops

Workforce development programs around the city including The Doe Fund; Workforce1 NYC Transportation Center; Center for Sustainable Energy at Bronx Community College; STRIVE/East Harlem Employment Service; The Academy at F·E·G·S Health and Human Services System; and Sunset Park Alliance for Youth

May 18 NYCETC Workforce Development Summit and Expo

Held at Borough of Manhattan Community College
A full day of 30 educational sessions featuring key leaders from the city’s workforce development community, as well as state and federal representatives.
Co-sponsored by the New York City Workforce Investment Board, Department of Youth and Community Development and the Department of Small Business Services, New York City Workforce Innovation Fund and the host Borough of Manhattan Community College

October 26 NYC Sector Initiatives Forum

Cutting Edge Changes in the Health Care Industry
An afternoon of sessions on emerging jobs in the city’s health care industry
