Joint Bills:

S 4626/A 6503 - (Passed by Assembly on 6-17-03) Access to basic education for public assistance recipients.  Provides that some participation in literacy, ESL, and GED preparation activities can count toward a public assistance recipient's work requirement.

S 6358/A 10097 - Extension of Work Study and Internship Law.  Extends until June 30, 2006, chapter 534 of the laws of 2000 allowing public assistance recipients to count certain hours engaged in work study and intership programs toward their work requirement.

S 6391/A 10215 - (Signed into law on 7-2-02) Work-study and internships for public assistance recipients.  Extends for two years, until June 30, 2004, those provisions of law allowing certain public assistance recipients to participate in work study and internship positions and have those hours count toward the recipient`s work activity requirements.

Senate Bills:

S 19 - "Employment and Job Training Services Act."  Requires state or local government agencies and private organizations contracting with the state that provide employment services including job training, retraining or placement, to verify an individual's legal status or authorization to work prior to providing such services to such individual.
