Programs
To expand access to the education and training services New Yorkers need, as well as develop a competent community of employment and training providers, the Coalition provides the following programs:
Public Education/Advocacy: The Coalition briefs elected and appointed government officials; develops position papers; testifies at legislative and public hearings; and advocates for policies that expand access to education, training, and jobs at the city, state and federal levels.
Workshops and Conferences: The Coalition sponsors workshops and conferences for workforce development professionals on such topics as working with employers to prepare job seekers for employment in growth industry sectors, implementing workforce development best practices, and understanding statutes and regulations that govern workforce development programs. See our calendar for upcoming events and register online.
Research and Publications: The Coalition researches and disseminates information on workforce development statutes and regulations, program models, labor market conditions, and funding sources through:
Technical Assistance: The Coalition responds to the needs of our members on a group and individual basis. We provide individual technical assistance to organizations new to the training and employment field such as mental health and substance abuse agencies who are creating employment programs for their clients. Following changes in welfare and workforce development laws, we work closely with groups of providers that need specific assistance adapting to changes.
